I swore off manual exfoliation a few years ago along with many others within the beauty community. I made the move to acids (chemical exfoliants such as Alpha-H Liquid Gold, Pixie Glow Tonic and Environ Alpha Hydroxy Toner) and I've not looked back since. That was until I came across the Omorovicza Refining Facial Polisher. It drew me in with its micro-algae and Hungarian Moor Mud that changes the product from emerald green to a pearly mint colour when activated. I couldn't help myself - I just had to try it. And let me tell you, it's a beauty!

In addition to the lava powder that “sloughs off dead skin cells and accelerates cell turnover,” it also contains lactobionic acid and fruit enzymes to deeply exfoliate and improve skin tone. I used it at night and awoke to find my skin bright and smooth, effects similar to a peel. It also contains Copper Gluconate which purifies the skin and regulates sebum production.

Now, I wouldn't recommend regular use if you have sensitive or problem skin - I found overuse agitated my acne. As a rough guide, I'd say once a month and on special occasions (makeup applies like a dream after use!) You may find you can use it more often if you don't use acid toners or have issues with blemishes. I'd also suggest you don't go nuts with your scrubbing motions - those lava powder granules may be small but they are effective so you only need to massage your skin gently to get the job done. Anything more than that could risk micro-tears in the skin which can make you more vulnerable to environmental damage and inflammation - not a good look.

The scrub is not cheap, coming in at a hefty £65 for 100ml. I managed to buy mine on offer from LookFantastic and got it 20% off and a little goes a long way, but even then, it's not quite a bargain. Does that make me love it less? Nope. Unfortunately for my wallet, I'm completely hooked. That said, if the price tag is a bit too intimidating, you can try a smaller version of the product by purchasing 3 mix-and-match travel size products for £50 directly from the brand's site. That way you can try out other products the brand has to offer. I’d recommend the Deep Cleansing Mask.

You can also buy the full range of Omorovicza products at Cult Beauty and John Lewis.

Product Rating: 7/10

Because as much as I love it, I have to knock of a few points for the cost.
